Laurel McBride is a graduate from Biology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Waterloo. She began tutoring French eight years ago and has since moved into tutoring math, English, history, and science. She also has experience teaching piano, voice, and musical theatre. She is accustomed to working with youth of all ages in both one-on-one and in group classes.
Laurel has a passion for helping students understand complicated concepts and hopes she can empower students to have the confidence they need to succeed. Having been a student for many years, she understands the difficulty of memorizing, learning, and understanding challenging subjects. She would love to pass down the techniques she developed during her education to younger students.
Her subjects of strength include math, science, English, French, and music. Professionally, Laurel has experience working in research labs studying environmental science and microbiology. She performed lengthy laboratory experiments, data analysis, and academic journal editing, thus sharpening her critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Laurel loves reading, writing, playing the piano, singing, and playing basketball and soccer for fun. She is genuinely excited to be a part of the Bee One Smartie community and can't wait to share her love of learning with each student.
